NEWS: Zunow's New PL Mount for Canon 5D

Modifying a Canon 5D or 7D with a PL Mount isn't exactly new. Cine-buffs have been doing it almost since the HDSLRs arrived on the scene and most rental houses now offer PL modified 5D/7Ds standard. 

So what makes Zunow's new mount different? It attaches to your camera via the standard Canon EF mount making it a non destructive solution to using cine-style lenses. No more need to remove the mirror system.

In theory this handy piece of gear would allow you to adapt any EF mount HDSLR on the fly. And when Canon releases the next wave of HDSLRs you could instantly have PL capabilities.

This is the very first PL Mount where you don’t have to modify your Canon DSLR camera. This means you don’t have to send it away and hope it will get back to you in one piece. Also your standard Canon warranty will still be in affect when you use this adapter.

Thanks to the high quality optical glass inside the PL Mount we can create a perfect 35mm light circle around your full frame sensor. So you can film with your Canon DSLR without any distorsion or lost in depth of field.

The Zunow PL Mount 5D comes standard with a V-lock support plate. This will support your PL Mount with a heavy cinematic lens attached. Thanks to the V-lock system you can mount you DSLR onto every quick release adapter. So easy to use onto your tripod.

The Canon EOS 7D can be used as well, however, will crop your image due to the smaller CMOS sensor.

The drawback: it sells for $2800 USD. And according to the Zunow website, the adapter can only support select Cooke and Angenieux lenses with a maximum mount length of 24mm. They are however working to support Zeiss, Leica, and Red lenses in the future.
