VIDEO: The Wounded Platoon - PBS Frontline

For those unfamiliar, PBS has a fantastic documentary series called Frontline. It's the kind of journalism, that unfortunately in these days of cable news talking heads, we must search increasingly further and wider for: who, what, when, where and why - just the facts.

It's most recent offering The Wounded Platoon, "investigates a single Fort Carson platoon of infantrymen -- the 3rd Platoon, Charlie Company, 1st Battalion, 506th Infantry -- and finds, after a long journey, a group of young men changed by war and battling a range of psychiatric disorders that many blame for their violent and self-destructive behavior. Since returning from Iraq, three members of the 3rd Platoon have been convicted on murder or attempted murder charges; one has been jailed for drunk driving and another for assaulting his wife; and one has attempted suicide."

It brings to light our nation's continued disservice to the men and women who serve for us. Regardless of your thoughts on the wars, our soldiers are not fruit whose peel can just be thrown away. More and more it becomes evident of our nations lack of preparedness to care for those returning from battle, both mentally and physically.

Do your self a favor and watch this. Watch all of Frontline. There are over 90 episodes available to view online, for free.

Forget CNN, Fox News, and MSNBC. The real news for this country is only found on Frontline.
