June 6th was the 66th anniversary of the successful 1944 Allied invasion of France. Boston.com did a piece featuring some amazing photos from that day.
Can you imagine going through that and having to take pictures at the same time. The fact that these combat photographers were still able to composed and frame such important documents of history is unbelievable.
Also, if you haven't seen it check out Shooting War - WWII Combat Cameramen. This doc was produced to coincide with the release of Saving Private Ryan and is hosted by Tom Hanks. It's a piece of history most of us never think about.
